Introducing Edit Mode: A New Era for Self-Editing Your Websites

Introducing Edit Mode: A New Era for Self-Editing Your Websites

Are you one of our valued customers who love to tweak and manage your website's content?

We have exciting news for you! The Webflow platform is transitioning its Editor to a new, more intuitive Edit Mode! Here's what you need to know about this upgrade to make your website management experience even better.

What's Changing?

Edit Mode is designed to make content updates easier and more intuitive:

  • Simplified Interface: Say goodbye to the complexities of the old Editor. Edit Mode provides a clearer, more user-friendly interface where you can see changes in real-time as you make them.
  • Enhanced Content Management: Edit Mode will allow you to work directly on your live site's content without worrying about complex design elements. This means you can focus solely on text, images, and links without diving into the technical side.
  • Improved Navigation: Finding what you need to edit will be simpler with a more organized layout, making updates faster and more efficient.

When Can You Expect This?

The Webflow platform is rolling out Edit Mode in phases, with full implementation expected by March 2025. Keep an eye on our announcements for exact dates tailored to your region.

What Are the Benefits for You?

  • Ease of Use: Everything from editing text to updating images will become straightforward, reducing the learning curve for those not deeply familiar with web design.
  • Tutorials and Training: Alongside the rollout, we'll update our Guides and Tutorials section with new resources tailored for Edit Mode. Plus, we're offering Free Online Training to every customer who manages their website content. This training will ensure you're fully equipped to use Edit Mode effectively.

No Price Changes

Rest assured, there are no changes to the pricing related to this update. Check out our Website Plans to see how many seats are included with your current plan.

New Roles for Premium and Custom Websites

For those of you with Premium Website Plans or Custom Websites, different roles are being introduced to enhance team collaboration:

  • Content Editor: Can update text, images, and basic page structure but cannot alter design elements significantly.
  • Designer: Has full access to design tools, allowing changes to layout, style, and complex functionalities.
  • Approver: Reviews changes before they go live, ensuring quality control.
  • Comments: Add comments and tag colleagues to enhance collaborations.

Staging and Approval Processes

  • Staging: Before any change goes live, you can now preview it in a staging environment that mirrors your live site. This allows you to check and tweak without affecting your public-facing website.
  • Approval Process: For teams where multiple eyes need to review content, an approval role can validate updates. Only after approval will changes be published, ensuring accuracy and consistency in your site's content.
