Built bilingual e-commerce site driving kids music merch sales.

Dominique Steiner

Project overview

Dominique Steiner is an oboist, composer, and music educator who creates interactive musical experiences for children and families through live performances, workshops, and original releases such as the Groove & Lullaby album.

The client faced the challenge of an non-existent online presence that made it difficult to promote music, list upcoming events, and sell merchandise directly to families in Luxembourg and the surrounding region. With music available in Luxembourgish and German, the site needed seamless language support and a frictionless shopping experience to convert interested parents and educators into buyers.

We defined the goal together: build a modern, professional website that serves as a central hub for content, events, and commerce. The core solution we delivered is a fully bilingual e-commerce platform featuring a clean shop for CDs, illustrated songbooks, and digital downloads, plus dedicated sections for music releases, artist background, agenda, and news. The result is an intuitive site that makes discovering kids’ music simple, enables instant purchases, and strengthens direct audience connection without relying on third-party marketplaces.

Project execution

We began with structured initial discussions and requirement gathering sessions to map out Dominique Steiner’s specific needs: bilingual content in German and English, product catalogue for physical and digital merch, event calendar integration, and newsletter signup for ongoing fan updates. We analysed her target audience—families, music educators, and event organisers—then prioritised mobile-first usability, fast loading times, and clear calls-to-action focused on discovery and purchase.

Design approach centred on a minimal, child-friendly visual structure with generous whitespace, intuitive navigation, and prominent product imagery that highlights the playful yet professional tone of the music. We created a logical user flow: homepage teaser leading to Music → Shop → Agenda, with language switching at the header for instant access in either German or English. Every page was optimised for families—short copy blocks, large touch targets, and logical product filters.

Technically we implemented a responsive e-commerce system with secure checkout, inventory display for limited-edition bundles (CD + songbook), and automated download delivery. Core features include SEO-optimised pages for “kids music Luxembourgish” and similar terms, fast image loading, and a clean newsletter form that captures emails for future releases and concerts. Custom elements such as the Agenda calendar and News feed were built to update effortlessly without technical knowledge.

Collaboration followed an efficient iteration process: we shared wireframes and prototypes after the first requirement round, incorporated feedback on product presentation and language accuracy in two review cycles, and refined the checkout flow based on usability testing. Adjustments focused on speed (under 2-second load times) and accessibility for all devices. We ensured the site is fully responsive across phones, tablets, and desktops while maintaining brand consistency with the artist’s acoustic, interactive identity.

The final delivery emphasises results-driven details: easier merch discovery, direct sales without external platforms, and improved visibility for events and workshops. Every decision—from language handling to shop layout—was guided by the priority of turning visitors into loyal customers and growing the kids’ music community.
